Group Flight: Greensboro to Charlotte to Philadelphia

Postby MTN2451 » Mon Aug 21, 2017 2:35 pm

We kick off the 2017-2018 Events season at Piedmont Triad International Airport in Greensboro, NC (KGSO) for a two-legger Group Flight, stopping over at Charlotte Douglas International Airport in Charlotte, NC (KCLT) and finishing up at Philadelphia International Airport (KPHL) in Philadelphia, PA.

As usual, you will receive 20 bonus points for participating, even if you can only join us for one of the two legs, provided that you complete the flight within the 3-hour event time window. You may fly the flight in any aircraft using any route at any altitude you prefer, although the recommended ones are listed below. Click the flight number link to be taken to that flight page on the Mountain Air website. Also, don't forget to reserve your slots for these flights as well.

Please join us on TeamSpeak during the event for a fun trip up the east coast stopping at the favorite airport of our new Veep of Operations!

At the moment, I am getting a permissions error when trying to award the bonus points, but I haven't forgotten about it. As soon as that is resolved, everyone who participated yesterday will be awarded their bonus points.

Do I have to use FSCARS in order to get bonus points or will vataware link be sufficient? You have not mentioned that requirement??

FSACARS is only required for the Challenge Events when the landing rate will be in use to determine the winner of the challenge, but to receive the 20-point participation bonus, a Mountain Air PIREP (either using FSACARS or a manual PIREP using the website) must be filed during the event window.

If you fly the flight and file a manual PIREP during that window indicating that you flew the flight online, that is sufficient to receive your participation bonus. VATAWARE links will only be used as a spot-check to ensure that pilots who are not using FSACARS during Events are actually flying the flight.

That is awesome. One more question. When you speak of "window", am I correct that landings must be completed or made before end of the event time. Correct?

As long as your Mountain Air PIREP indicates that you departed within the 3-hour window, it counts as participation in that part of the event.
